Monte Carlo Masters LIVE: Vacherot continues incredible pace to set up Alcaraz semi-final | Flashscore.com

The quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters are here, and eight players are looking to book their place in the last four this week. We can also get one step closer to the final Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner.

19:57 CET – Another chapter has been added to the story of Valentin Vacherot!

The home favorite, who won the Shanghai Masters as a player at the end of last year, continues to prove that he was not a flash in the pan, and with his fans convinced, he defeated Alex de Minaur 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to confirm his place in the semi-finals of Monte Carlo.

Amazing story, and now he’s facing Carlos Alcaraz next.

So, the semi-finals are set, and will take place from 13:30 CET tomorrow.

19:25 CET – It’s a game on in Monte Carlo as Alex De Minaur takes the second round to decide a place in the last four.

18:37 CET – Valentin Vacherot’s dreams are about to continue! The home player is still loving his weekend in Monte Carlo and is on course for a scalp after his stunning victory against Lorenzo Musetti earlier in the week.

The Monaco star took the first set against Alex De Minaur 6-4 after some impressive tennis.

17:50 CET – The quarter-finals now get under way as favorite Valentin Vacherot gets off to a flying start against fifth seed Alex De Minaur.

Can the dream continue for Vacherot in his home tournament?

17:35 CET – Carlos Alcaraz got the better of Alexander Bublik in the final, in what turned out to be a more casual victory than expected. The world number one didn’t drop a single game in the second set when Bublik fell to the ground and rolled.

Alcaraz won’t worry, it’s a good win even if he didn’t play as well as he could and in which he didn’t have to come out with second gear.

16:44 CET – There is a short first set for both players, but Carlos Alcaraz has taken 6-3 over Alexander Bublik. The 16 unforced errors from the backhand racket were uncharacteristic, and neither player had more rhythm.

It’s not the fun game we thought it would be so far, but let’s see what happens in the second round!

15:48 CET – Jannik Sinner just keeps winning! The Italian was too good for Felix Auger-Aliassime, beating the Canadian 6-3, 6-4 in just over an hour and a half in Monte Carlo.

It was bad from the Sinner, but he will be a little concerned about his first-half percentage, which changed this tournament. Today, it was 58%.

Now he has 20 victories in a row in 1000 events, and he will meet Alexander Zverev for the fourth straight time in the semi-finals at this level!

The sinner has won their last seven meetings in a row, so Zverev will need to find a way to turn the competition on its head.

Next up, it’s Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Bublik. There is less pressure on defending champion Alcaraz, knowing that if he loses, the Sinner will take his place as world number one.

15:00 CET – A fine set of tennis from Jannik Sinner saw him race to a 6-3 lead against Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The Canadian hasn’t been that bad, but the Sinner is absolutely dominating and forcing Auger-Aliassime into defense so often that he can’t get in at all.

Is there anything he can do to change this, or does Moetsalibe enter the semi-finals?

13:54 CET – Alexander Zverev returned to the Monte Carlo semi-finals for the first time since 2022, after overcoming a strong challenge from 19-year-old Joao Fonseca, 7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-3, in two hours and 41 minutes.

In a competition that turned into a real battle at times – something that usually suits Zverev to a T – the German outlasted his opponent in the final set, making it four consecutive matches in the 1000 match series.

Both players did not speak well, Zverev made 36 unforced errors and Fonseca 47, but in the end, it was he who came out on top.

It was a great week from Fonseca, who reached his first quarter of 1000. For the third seed, Zverev, he will now face the winner of the next match: Jannik Sinner vs Felix Auger-Aliassime.

13:16 CET – After an exciting back and forth game, Joao Fonseca forced the decider! The Brazilian was on top of the majors and even broke the third seed to serve for the set.

Alexander Zverev, however, responded like the third-ranked player in the world to force a tie, but Fonseca showed all his talent in a good tiebreak to take the second set.

So, we go to the decision making area!

12:01 CET – First blood, Alexander Zverev!

It was really tight and competitive, but the German got a break at 5-5 before successfully working to take the lead. Joao Fonseca has a job to do now.

11:10 CET – The first quarter-final between Alexander Zverev and Joao Fonseca is about to start in Monte Carlo, and we are looking forward to this one!

09:00 CET – Welcome back to our Monte Carlo Masters coverage on quarter-final day, with four exciting matches on the cards.

The game continues 11:00 CET with a truly intriguing match between third seed Alexander Zverev and 19-year-old Joao Fonseca.

The pair have never played before, and Fonseca is playing his first quarter-final of 1000. Meanwhile, it is Zverev’s best performance in Monaco since reaching the semi-finals in 2022.

That is followed by a meeting between Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime. The club’s record breaking first run of 37 starts ended against Tomas Machac in the third round, and he looked at his best in terms of fitness.

Auger-Aliassime will be the big man, but if the Sinner fights again, the Canadian could have a chance. This is his best run in Monte Carlo, with Sinner reaching the semis twice in 2023 and 2024.

Carlos Alcaraz now goes head-to-head with Alexander Bublik for the first time.

The world number one, who is the defending champion and looking to retain his place at the top of the rankings this week, was very wrong in his three-set victory over Tomas Martin Etcheverry, while the mercurial Bublik was in good form.

Alcaraz will need to be at his best against a very dangerous opponent, who is his first quarterback in Monte Carlo.

Finally, Monegasque Valentin Vacherot will look to keep the biggest dream of his tennis life: to win his home tournament.

He is a formidable opponent of Alex De Minaur. His rise has continued to be phenomenal since he stunned the game by winning the Shanghai Masters last year, and he is guaranteed to enter the world number 20 at the end of the week, and he will have a huge crowd behind him against the world number six, who is not playing his best tennis on clay.
