Leeds are targeting TWO new signings, both receiving Championship reviews

Leeds United hold what is described as “confirmed interest” in signing Middlesbrough goalkeeper Sol Brynn, with the Premier League side’s scouts feeling the stopper ticks many boxes – although he is not the only new keeper on the club’s radar, with interest also reported in the Brighton man.

The Whites head into this summer’s transfer window with huge question marks hanging over their goal-line-up. Current Leeds United No.1 Karl Darlow is out of contract and eligible to leave on a free transfer, while second choice Lucas Perri – signed for 16 million euros (£13.9m, $18.7m) from Lyon last summer – has not lived up to expectations.

Furthermore, the team’s third and fourth choices, Illan Meslier and Alex Cairns, are also in the same boat, and both look set to continue.

Regarding Meslier, TEAMtalk understands that the Frenchman will consider several offers this summer and has big clubs chasing him, attracted by his free status and the fact that he can provide strong competition between the sticks and always willing to take the role of the assistant.

For Leeds, however, they have questions to answer, and the prospect of signing a new goalkeeper this summer is certainly on the agenda, as we revealed back in February and have now identified the club’s “dream builder”.

Now, to follow YouTube channel, The Leeds Viewit has been revealed that Leeds are interested in two of this season’s Championship stars.

According to host Ger Lynch, after speaking to a source close to the Middlesbrough target, the Whites are monitoring the 6ft 5in star’s progress.

Lynch explained: “A new goalkeeper was always on the shopping list this summer, be it first choice, second choice or third choice. The goalkeeping situation at Elland Road needs to be assessed this summer.

“We have received information that Leeds United have some interest in Middlesbrough goalkeeper Sol Brynn and, rather than pass on that information, we have investigated the matter, and have spoken directly to a source close to Sol himself.”

However, as Lynch explains, he is not the only goalscorer on Leeds’ radar…

Leeds as Coventry stopper as sources reveal possible transfer outcome

Lynch continued: “This season, they have confirmed interest from Leeds and confirmed that there is some interest in Sol Brynn. He is described as Leeds United’s favorite player, although they have been credited with interest in two other targets as well.

“They are also credited with an interest in Coventry’s current goalie Carl Rushworth. There are hard points to that. One. He is currently on loan at Coventry from Brighton and Hove Albion, and, if he were to move, he is given the standard price tag of Brighton. The starting price is about £20 million.

But Sol Brynn seems to tick a lot of boxes. From Leeds’ point of view, there are many things to like about him: his height, his football ability, his short game, as well as his prime age.

“Daniel Farke has a desire to get back into football, and having a goalie who can play short ball is a big part of that. So Brynn is someone who can do that.

“The tricky part in this will always be Middlesbrough’s split with Leeds United next summer. Boro, if they get promoted – the player is a Middlesbrough boy – he’s likely to stay at the club for at least some time.

“If they don’t go up, and they have Ipswich breathing down their necks now, and if Leeds stay up, the Premier League draw could be very strong.

“Brynn is 25 years old, 6ft tall. He’s got an amazing 4.5 SV percentage. That’s an XG goal percentage, which means he’s stopped 4.5 goals per entry, which is a pretty good start for a defender to have.

“He has started 39 of Middlesbrough’s 39 games so far this season. He has even been credited with an assist this year, and he has 12 clean sheets and 92% accuracy inside his own half. That is the short pass I am talking about, which Leeds will want to bring in the summer, in whatever way they decide to bring in the goal.”

Lynch continued: “This is going to be one to watch going forward, the source I spoke to, I’m going to have a lot of faith in this; he’s very close. So for me, it’s something we have to keep an eye on. However, they said it’s only interest at this point, but Leeds are willing to deal with the goal situation this summer.”

As for Rushworth, we understand that Leeds will face a tall order to pay him away from Brighton.

Indeed, we revealed back in February that the Seagulls have in their minds that the 24-year-old, from Halifax, is a strong contender to be No.1 at Amex in the future, with increasing interest in Bart Verbruggen, who could be allowed to leave for a hefty fee.

Tottenham and Bayern Munich are among the Dutchman’s suitors, with both sides looking to address their goalkeeping positions this summer.

Leeds latest news: Pre-planned transfers; Willy Gnonto is afraid

Meanwhile, Leeds United suffered transfer headaches after a planned summer deal collapsed after a furious manager vowed to ditch the €8m deal after becoming frustrated with his form.

Elsewhere, an insider with expert knowledge at Leeds United has revealed popular Italian winger Wilfried Gnonto will continue to struggle for minutes under Farke’s “attritional” form, amid fears he is one of four players who could be forced out this summer.

In other news, Farke’s future as Leeds United manager has also been called into serious doubt, with the former Premier League midfielder explaining why he could be sacked by chairman Paraag Marathe at the end of the season.
