Friday is All Weather Champions day and my best bets for Friday come from Newcastle as we look to boost the Easter egg fund.
Newcastle Tips: 3rd April
Silent Strike can make a lot of noise
Andrew Balding has trained the winner of this race in its previous races and, while that is no guarantee of another success, I think he can complete a hat-trick of races with SHUT UP.
It’s the heat of the competition, and Ollie Sangster is trained Al Najashi looking for time five and both Northern Kingdom and Three Non Blondes look for strong options in the betting sites as they arrive at Gosforth Park on the back of the winners.
Silent Strike was heavily favored over C&D last time but won comfortably at Kempton before that and looks like someone who can improve here. That last effort was no doubt a study mission for this race and with Oisin Murphy now registered, I think he can go one better.
Friday Tip 1: Silent Strike (Newcastle, 13.50) – 2pts win @ 4/1 (bet365)
Double cheer for the Balding camp
Balding’s team can finish twice on the Newcastle card with STATEIRAwho looks well behaved and is likely to go away as the favorite in the betting tools for this 7f handicap for the ladies.
He has gone on to win three of his seven starts so far and is counting. His latest success, which was against his sex with C&D, was done with little controversy and he still looks very active brand, despite gaining 10lb.
Carolina Jetstream seems to be his toughest opponent, while in price, Queen of Ziggy it could go well but I think Oisin Murphy will be celebrating another winner around 2.30 on Good Friday.
Friday Tip 2: Stateira (Newcastle, 14.25) – 3pts win @ 7/4 (Ladbrokes)
The numbers add up to the Chancellor
The prize is big for this type of game and it attracts a high, competitive place. It’s an interesting competition, and many of them will be keen on their chances, including last season’s winners. Blue Rc, The Lost King and First Principle.
However, I’ll stick with someone who was beaten last time but is still showing improved form THE SERVANT. John Gosden puts the cheekpieces on the Kingman gelding for the first time, having seen him recently caught in Lingfield’s Group 3 Winter Derby last time out (1m2f, Polytrack).
He once had one of today’s strongest opponents, Tyrrhenian Sea a length behind him when he won the Southwell Listed event (1m, Tapeta) earlier in February, while his form of a close second behind Holloway Boy in the Kempton Listed event (1m, Polytrack) last December, also reads well in terms of this race.
He is in good shape for a handicap comeback and those cheekpieces could give him an extra edge, so that he can get the vote and be widely supported in the horse racing betting world.
Friday tip 3: Chancellor (Newcastle, 15.00) – 1pt each way @ 13/2 (William Hill)
Sarab Star is the hottest in the handicap field
This looks like another red hot handicap and it’s an open contest on paper. Sir Les Patterson still selling as the pre-race favourite. He will need to improve again to add to his last Dundalk success (both 6f, Polytrack) but that doesn’t mean he can’t.
The Lakers have been the third-closest in his last two starts, one of which has been controversial. Pocklingtonwhich also has applications here. At double prices, The Bodon, Strong Power and Five thousand each It can’t be reduced but I think SARAB STAR I won this.
Jack Channon has his team in good form, apart from coming off the deep end of a tough Group 2 competition at Newbury, he has won or been close in five of his other games.
He’s getting better and better with his freestyle over 7f will, I think, translate well to this tough 6f at Gosforth Park. He is on the right side of the disability right now and is focused on this job.
Friday tip 4: Sarab Star (Newcastle, 15.35) – 1pt to each @ 7/1 (Ladbrokes)
Gaucher can take home his top prize
The biggest prize up for grabs here and the offer is for those trained by Willie Mullins THE WALKERco-hosted by Billy Loughnane.
Admittedly, he probably won’t come off the mark with a decisive win at Dundalk, scoring six lengths (1m4f, Polytrack) on debut and adding to that with a superb five-and-a-half length victory when reduced to 1m2½f there last time.
He is now 16lb higher than when the gates went back to the first of those but form suggests that even this revised 106 mark could still look generous around 4.15 on Friday afternoon. Trained Andrew Balding Royal Ulysses he should prove to be his toughest opponent.
Friday tip 5: Gaucher (Newcastle, 16.10) – 1pt win @ 4/1 (William Hill)
Bet responsibly
If you are betting on Friday games, it is important to practice responsible gambling.
Gambling can be addictive, and it’s important to stay in control of your gambling, whether you use online bookmakers, casinos, slot sites, bingo sites or any other gambling platform.
Never treat gambling as a way to make money, never bet more than you can handle and when the fun stops, stop.
Gambling websites offer tools for punters, such as deposit limits, profit and loss trackers and withdrawal options, to help you stay in control.
Try not to get carried away by free bets or casino bonuses, which are available everywhere.
But if you feel like you need help or advice about gambling addiction, don’t hesitate to contact one of the charities or organizations below.
