The top four players in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings took to Court 9 at the Monte-Carlo Country Club on Wednesday afternoon, as Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic emerged victorious in the second heavyweight tournament at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
Arevalo and Pavic defeated Austin Krajicek and Nikola Mektic 6-4, 7-6 (5) to seal their place in the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 clay event in Monaco. The fifth seeds went deeper in the latter half of the match, holding a break point in the second set in the second game before converting their second point in a hard-fought match.
In a big game for the home fans, home favorite Hugo Nys helped end Monegasque Romain Arneodo’s Monte-Carlo title. Nys and Edouard Roger-Vasselin beat 2025 champion Arneodo and Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4, 6-7(3), 10-4.
Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard (Arneodo’s title-winning partner from last year) also reached the quarter-finals on Wednesday after Zizou Bergs and Jannik Sinner pulled out of their scheduled match due to Moetsalibe suffering from a rash. In the last match of the first round to be played, the Austrians Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler defeated the French pair Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 6-4, 7-5.
