Engels returns a big boost for the end of Celtic’s season

The return of Arne Engels will be very welcome. The results of his absence prove how much influence the Belgian player has on us…

Arne Engels is back in full training and is fit and ready to go as we prepare to take part in a series of important league and Scottish Cup games.

The Belgian international, a club record after Brendan Rodgers decided to bring him to Glasgow for £ 11 million from Augsburg 18 months ago, has not been in the team since he scored during their 2-1 win over Livingston in February, but is now available for selection, with a place in the team for Sunday’s trip to De Park.

Let’s hope so, although he is a player who is not lacking in critics of the Celtic support, especially among the Rodgers haters, it is something that is important to us.

Those who don’t agree with my opinion, and there will be more than a few, just have to look at the results and the consistent performances we have done with Arne sitting on the sidelines.

Ever since Arne got himself fired against Livingston, this Celtic side has looked out of sorts, it’s contributed to us dropping six important points in his absence, and even in the games we’ve won, we’ve looked very poor, especially in the middle of the park.

His critics will disagree, but Arne is an asset to our side, due to his unmistakable ability to control the tempo in midfield, especially under the guidance of Martin O’Neill who it seems the Belgian is playing to the best of his ability.

Not only does Arne stand out with key strikes, he is also one of, if not the best resource we have in terms of assists.

Arne is young, hungry, full of passion and an overall terrific footballer. Being denied his services has made us a very poor side, which has been reflected in our recent results and performances.

Brendan Rodgers bought him for £11m, Celtic refused THREE Fees on January transfer deadline day from Nottingham Forest and the latter reached £25m. Yes, the Rodgers have been keeping his money transfer madness quiet in recent months.

I hope Arne Engels starts on Sunday and with Callum McGregor in the squad he looks more confident.
