Enzo Fernandez was told to “f***” after “disrespecting” Chelsea fans by playing with his Real Madrid feelings while Moises Caicedo “went” if he received a call from Florentino Perez.
Asked recently if he would be at Chelsea next season, Fernandez said: “I don’t know, there are eight games left and then the FA Cup. Then there’s the World Cup, and we’ll see.”
In an interview over the weekend with Marcos Giles and Infobae, Fernandez insisting that he would like to move to Madrid sometime in the future.
He said: “I would like to be there, I don’t know, live there. I like Madrid a lot, it reminds me a lot of Buenos Aires.”
Mikel, who won ten major trophies during his time at Chelsea including two Premier League titles and the Champions League, didn’t mince his words in response to Fernandez’s appeal for me to get one.
“That’s not a leader,” Obi Mikel said of Fernandez’s words Obi One Podcast.
“It’s something that if you have leaders, if you have leaders that the players respect and look up to, you can’t go out and say those words because you’ll be thinking, ‘How is this going to go down in the dressing room? How is this going to go down with the main players, the big players, when they see this?’, after we were kicked out of the Champions League.
“You were the captain in that game and you came out and said those things…how would that go down well with the big players in the dressing room?

“You’re looking at it and you’re thinking, ‘Who’s going to answer for me in that dressing room?’… nobody, the leadership isn’t there.
“So you think, ‘I can go out, say whatever I want, nobody’s going to answer me’, and that’s what happened.
“I have to say about Enzo Fernandez that his progress in the football club has started to improve.
“When we signed him, everyone was wondering, but he had a good season last season and scored a few goals, he was late in the box, scored goals and won us games.
But for him to come out and say that after we were knocked out of the Champions League in disgrace, and you come out after wearing the captain’s armband… no player is bigger than a football club.
“If he’s had enough, put your hands up, f*** and we’ll move on.”
“There is no bigger player than a football club, especially a big club like Chelsea.
“You can’t say that, no matter what happens. No matter what happens, you are still being paid a lot of money to be in this football club, you should be grateful that you are playing for a club like Chelsea.
“I understand, a little bit, his frustration, but you still have to respect the badge, you still have to respect the football club, you still have to respect the fans.
“The fans pay your salary. When you come out and say that, it’s disrespectful to the football club and the fans.”
Mikel insists Chelsea need to find the right balance between youth and experience or four of their best stars will leave the club.
“The current strategy of the football club is to bring in young players, but where is the experience?’ he continued.
“You need a little experience to guide these young players because this is the Premier League, this is the toughest league in the world.
“When you bring young players from Brazil, Spain, Africa, wherever you bring them, this is a tough, tough league, this is the toughest league in the world.
“They need someone in the game, on the field, who can guide them when the game is difficult, when the game is difficult.
“No matter how young a player you are, this is the Premier League and it will eat you up, you need a bit of experience to guide you through the games.
“If you don’t have that, you struggle, you will struggle a lot, so, for me, the strategy of the football club is to bring in young players… but you still need experience.
“You need a combination of whatever you need to do and still maintain the culture of an award-winning football club.
