Jannik Sinner retained his iron in his Lexus ATP Head2Head match with Alexander Zverev on Saturday to advance to his first major at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.

Player No. 2 in the PIF ATP Rankings raced to a 6-1, 6-4 semi-final victory, his eighth tour victory in a row against Zverev, with an impressive all-around performance in the clay event ATP Masters 1000. Now on a streak of winning 21 matches at the Masters 1000 level after his title in Paris last November, and Indian Wells and Miami last month. Moetsalibe became only the fourth man to reach the finals of the first three Masters 1000 at the same time (after Roger Federer in 2006, Rafael Nadal in 2011 and Novak Djokovic in 2015).

The sinner converted all four of his points on Court Rainier III, where he overwhelmed Zverev with a relentless barrage of accurate serves and brutal forehands. Even after Zverev recovered from a shocking performance by improving in the second game, Sinner converted his first match point into an emphatic 82-minute victory.

“I am very happy, we came here to try to give my opinion [on clay] and now to find myself in the finals means a lot to me,” said Sinner.” Obviously, every game, every day is different, so I’m very happy with today’s performance. I felt very confident from the start. When you split immediately, it changes the dynamic of the game, I’m very happy and we’ll see what comes in the end.”

His opponent in Sunday’s final will be his archrival Carlos Alcaraz, who later ended the legendary run of his favorite Valentin Vacherot with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Sunday’s title match, scheduled for 3pm local time (CEST), will double as a straight shootout for the World No. 1 spot in Monday’s edition of the PIF ATP Rankings.

“I have nothing to lose. Coming here and making the final means a lot to me, so I will try to push as hard as I can tomorrow on the last day,” said Sinner before his first meeting with Alcaraz in 2026. “Now the most important thing is to rest.

Moetsalibe came out firing in his quest for a first win in three Monte-Carlo semi-finals. The Italian gave Zverev little time to settle into the match with a razor-thin return, racing to a 4-0 lead in quick time. The sinner favored to close out the first set in which he won 80 percent (12/15) of the points against Zverev’s first serve, according to Infosys ATP Stats.

Third seed Zverev, who was chasing his first Masters 1000 championship appearance since winning the 2024 Rolex Paris Masters title, was able to reduce the Sinner’s charge, at least in his service games. However the Italian dropped just two points in his favor in the second set and, when he brought up his first match point at 5-4, 15/40, he signaled the first line past Zverev to claim victory.
